Introduction

Sense Away is a strategic game where you try to build a path through a constantly changing maze. The game is designed to be played without sight. If you can see the board, it adds an extra challenge to play the game blindfolded.

Setup

Sense Away is made for 2 or 4 players. Place a pawn for each player in the middle of one side of the board. These spots are indicated by a triangle on the side. Each player receives 5 walls. When playing with 2 players, place the pawns opposite each other. Then give each player 10 walls.

Playing

All players take turns making a move. Decide together who goes first, but ensure this changes with each game. You are finished when your pawn has reached the other side of the board (compared to the starting position). During your turn, you have two options: move your pawn or place a wall.

Your pawn may move one square. This can be horizontal or vertical. The pawn cannot move to an adjacent square if there is a wall between it and the current square. Only one pawn may occupy a square. If you can move to a square occupied by another player, you may jump over that player. This effectively allows you to move 2 squares in 1 turn. If this square is blocked, either by a wall or another player, you may make a diagonal jump. This means you move from the position of the other player to the left or right.

You may place a single wall. This wall is two squares wide and can be placed horizontally or vertically. After placing the wall, all players must still have a possible route to their respective goals. This means you cannot completely enclose another player.
